Back in the 1970s, when the whole space age thing was hitting its peak, the Hamilton Watch company came up with a new style of watch. In 1972, they released their first 'Pulsar' watch into the market place. This watch was the first of its kind - electronic quartz with a light emitting diode (LED), digital display and a radically new space-age look. A contemporary press report described the source of the watch name as 'those strange distant spinning stars which send quick and regular radio 'bleeps' from our space.' Sound far-out to you?
Well, not to the general public. Those strange spinning stars inspired an incredible trend. Pulsar watches
were a huge hit and to this day the original watches are highly-prized collectors items. In time, the
original boom waned; but not before the Pulsar brand name had made an enduring impression worldwide.
In 1979, following a series of changes in brand ownership, Pulsar watches with new looks and new features
were introduced to the United States market by SEIKO Corporation of America. This series was the first full
line of all-quartz men's and ladies' wrist watches.
The brand was a huge success and in 1980, Pulsar was launched in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain,
the Netherlands, and other important European markets. The brand grew rapidly, as it did in the United States.
Today, Pulsar is a major brand in all European countries, as well as in Australia, Canada, Africa and Israel.
Over twenty years after its launch Pulsar continues its tradition of design and technological excellence, and
its latest creations are at the cutting edge of watch styling. You can rest assured that each and every Pulsar
watch is built to the highest standards of quality - Pulsar is a trademark of Seiko Corporation - the world's
leading maker of quality timepieces. You can rely on Pulsar's products and on an after sales service network
that is at your disposal worldwide. Check out the Contacts section and you'll see!

History was made in Japan's timepiece industry in 1881, when K. Hattori & Co., Ltd. (later renamed Seiko Corporation)
began wholesaling and retailing imported watches and clocks. In 1892, Seikosha Co., Ltd., the Seiko Group's first
manufacturing division, was established to make wall clocks. But in terms of industrial history, Japan's most
significant contribution was the development of the quartz watch.
